After two European tours, a deleted album, and a year spent searching for the meaning of two people making music while living on opposite sides of the world - childhood friends Ryan Nicolussi and Alister Hill realised that as simple as it sounds, Saint-Léon is about friendship. 


A creative lifeline that has pulled them out of, frankly, some drowning shit experienced between the highs, lows and traumas of the past few years, the duo found their sound by accident when they discovered ‘The Daniel Johns Voice’ - a hushed falsetto Ryan uses when forced to sing as quietly as possible. Reflecting on the influence that the Silverchair front-man had on them as teens, the duo embarked on making simple pop songs with nothing to hide behind - direct, emotional, and putting it all on the line without a care for the coolness rotisserie in the outside world.


Tracking five songs as quickly as possible in the village they’re named after in the south of France, Ryan and Alister handed their first finished tune ‘Video Story’ to close friend, audio engineer and fellow Sydney-sider Jonboy Rock (live sound mixer for Empire of the Sun, and yes, heaps of rock bands among other things). When he finished the song in a day he proclaimed the sound to be ‘Big Minimal’, and the Big Minimal EP quickly came to be!


Accompanied by a tour diary filmed warts and all on their last summer European tour, Saint-Léon present ‘Video Story’ - the first song taken from the Big Minimal EP due for release next year.
